UNLV Harvard LEAD
What is LEAD?
Latina Empowerment And Development

UNLV CHAPTER
The UNLV Harvard LEAD Chapter has a mission of empowering and creating a path of opportunity for Latina students at UNLV. The chapter’s mission is to recruit and prepare Latina students to attend the annual Harvard LEAD Conference. Throughout the year, we host workshops and activities designed to help members navigate professional environments during and after college. We also equip students with practical skills in fundraising, networking, and travel planning ensuring they are prepared for opportunities both on and beyond campus. The chapter is committed to creating an environment that promotes Latina leadership and empowerment.
Harvard LEAD Conference
The Latina Empowerment & Development (LEAD) Conference was founded in 2007 by Bianca Caban (Harvard Class of 2009), who united a group of dedicated leaders from Harvard’s Latina community to create a space focused on guiding young Latinas into the professional world and beyond.
At its core, LEAD champions the belief that femme-presenting Latines possess a wealth of untapped talent and potential that can meaningfully impact society. While strides have been made to broaden opportunities for underrepresented communities, femme-presenting Latines continue to face significant gaps in leadership representation across all sectors. This reality underscores the importance of LEAD as a platform for professional development, mentorship, community building, and inspiration—empowering attendees to pursue their goals with confidence and purpose.
LEAD of Harvard College remains deeply committed to fostering Latine leadership and empowerment. By connecting accomplished Latines and cultivating spaces for growth and visibility, LEAD continues to contribute to a more diverse, equitable, and talented professional landscape.
